Five-Thirty Thursday at Rockbottom

Beginning April 19th I will be kicking off a 7-week residency with my full band at the Rockbottom Brewery in downtown Portland. What makes this residency extra special is the fact that you don’t have to stay out all night to enjoy the live music … Yep, Five-Thirty Thursdays is a full concert experience that starts at 5:30 and will have you home by 8pm!

Even better, Rockbottom will be tapping a new beer at 5:30 on many of these upcoming dates and everyone in the room will get a free pint! That said, come hear a tune and enjoy a post-work brew with a friend or two! See ya there.

NEW Alberta Rose Theatre Videos

As you know, I recently experienced a very special musical event at The Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland, OR — a warm venue, brimming with a warm crowd and resulting in the warmest memories. That said, the entire evening was captured on film and I am finally getting around to editing and posting the videos.

While the clips below are my first attempt at multi-angle video editing (and will never win an award for “Best Editor”) my hope is that they offer you a peak at the very special evening that was had. Thank you to all that attended and contributed to such a special moment. Cheers!

Madgesdiq CD Release Party

As you already know, I had the grand opportunity to collaborate with Madgesdiq, a Portland-based hip-hop artist, on a song called World without Walls from his upcoming album Rastamerica. Well, now that the record is done, Madgesdiq has not only asked me to perform our song with him at his CD release party but he’s also asked me and my full band to open for his release show at The Secret Society on March 23rd, 2012. Leave Oregon with Alternate Lyrics

Track number one on my 2010 EP Long Before the Wheel is a song called Leave Oregon — it was the first song I wrote in Nashville and should be considered a direct letter to my loved ones in the West.

While the state of Oregon means the world to me, I knew it wouldn’t resonate with everyone, therefore, I elected to record an alternate version of the same song. In the end, they’re nearly identical but with only one single lyric adjusted within the chorus:

INSTEAD OF:
“Who was I to leave Oregon
When the rearview facing West held all I loved?”

IT IS NOW:
“Who was I to leave where I’m from
When the rearview facing West held all I loved?”
