Tyler Stenson Video EPK
Friday, October 28th, 2011Welcome. This is the official EPK, video press kit and promotional reel for Tyler Stenson, the Portland-based singer/songwriter of “Elegant Folk” music. This 6-minute video has been over a decade in the making and a long-time coming — but timely all at once.
Thanks to the help of Taylor and Matt at Quarter 4 Sports and Beavers without Borders for your equipment, your talent, your dedication to quality and your vision. Without you, the story of my career, my passion and this epic journey, wouldn’t have been told in such a way.
PASS IT ON. SPREAD THE WORD. TELL SOMEBODY.
My Halloween Pumpkin
Tuesday, October 25th, 2011Although I visited the Sauvie Island Pumpkin Patch about 3 weekends ago to hand-pick my pumpkin of choice, it was just yesterday that I finally got around to carving my Halloween pumpkin for 2011. As seen below, my girlfriend carved Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas (pictured on the right), while I decided to go with the his evil nemesis, the Boogie Man Ghost (pictured on the left).

Remembering Kipp Crawford
Monday, October 24th, 2011I was recently asked by Redwood Son to design a concert poster for his upcoming performance at the McMenamins St John’s Theater, a show that will be dedicated to his former friend and drummer, Kipp Crawford, a shining light that was taken from us, long before his time. The show will mark the 2-year anniversary of Kipps’s tragic death and all proceeds will be donated to Kipp’s Memorial Fund to benefit Ashland Schools. The poster is below.

Although my encounters with Kipp were much more minimal than some, I was certainly affected by his passing — if you’ll recall, I wrote a song called Daffodils that penned him into the second verse and chorus. I believe this is a grand cause and hope you’ll join Redwood Son for the dedicated performance to the Kipp Crawford Memorial Fund.
Portland’s Best Male Artist
Saturday, October 22nd, 2011Last January, I was named Best Male Artist at the 2011 Portland Music Awards — I can’t believe it has almost been a year! While this isn’t necessarily the newest news around, these few pictures from the awards ceremony just made their way into my hands, therefore, I wanted to post them for your eyes. Enjoy.

Live Wire Radio
Friday, October 21st, 2011As mentioned before, I will be performing TOMORROW at the Live Wire! Radio variety show at the Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland, OR. It is quite an honor to be invited to perform at this renowned production and live broadcast, so I’ll aim to do my part in making it as stellar as its reputation demands.
Because it’s a variety show, I am simply a part of the whole and therefore only get two songs. Best foot forward, right? That said, I’ll be playing Great Man’s Funeral and Better Be Us All.
It’s always hard to chose which few of my many songs to play (when limited) but I think this will be a nice mix for the Live Wire! folks. Please join us for this fine event.

Video: That Moon with Lyrics
Sunday, October 16th, 2011This is an original song that I wrote in 2010 but I wanted to post it today, with lyrics, because I’m often told by my fans that reading along with the fast-paced lyrics helped them to appreciate this tale to the fullest. A detailed story about a full-moon hike through Poly Canyon in San Luis Obispo, CA, That Moon was one of my favorite songs to write and absolutely one of my favorite songs to perform.

Introducing My New Album Websites
Thursday, October 13th, 2011In an effort to fully jump into the nerdy end of the pool, I’ve recently purchased unique urls and built dedicated websites for the three albums that I’m endlessly promoting. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing my new album websites:
BittersweetParade.com
LongBeforeTheWheel.com
AnotherGleam.com
The goal was to make them simple and standard. There’s nothing too fancy about any of them but my hope is that it gives people another place to learn about the various records that I’ve created and who knows, maybe even buy a copy or three.
Performing on Live Wire! Radio
Wednesday, October 12th, 2011I’m proud to announce that I’ve been invited to perform on the Live Wire! Radio Show at the Alberta Rose Theater on Saturday October 22nd. This is truly an honor.
If you haven’t heard of it, Live Wire! is a top-notch radio variety show that tapes in front of an enthusiastic audience and airs each week via Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) and is heard nationally and internationally through its podcasts.
Over the years Live Wire! has featured a number of stellar talents including Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club) and Joe Purdy and, on this particular October night in 2011, I will be featured as the solo musical guest; joined by author David Guterson, Oregon Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen, cartoonist Kate Beaton and a big-time full band musical guest, Typhoon!

Buffalo Gap Musician Frames
Saturday, October 8th, 2011I started playing live music at the Buffalo Gap Saloon in Portland, OR circa 2003 — it was one of the first venues to give me and my music a chance and I therefore owe them much. 8 years later, I don’t play there as often as I used to but I still consider it my local haunt, my Cheers, my home away from home, my watering hole, my … well, you get the idea. It’s a swell place.
All that said, I was recently invited to play at their annual birthday party known as Gap Fest and following my set, I was surprised with the decorated frame below. I was beyond honored when they presented me with this tribute frame that celebrated my career and the Buffalo Gap’s involvement in its progression.
It will be hung on the wall of the establishment for the many years to come…
Thank you Buffalo Gap for the opportunity and the friendship.
