This Too Shall Pass Music Video

I was recently approached by Americonic Films to create a music video for This Too Shall Pass, my original song from the Some Days I’m a Lion LP (2012). As you will read and see below, this was a good thing.

Upon meeting, Glenn and Steven (from Americonic Films) brought a very specific vision to the table and while I usually assume total control over the creative direction of my musical endeavors, this was an instance where I was able to totally let go. Of course, based on the quality of their ideas, this wasn’t difficult in the least — in fact, it was really exhilarating and educational to watch such a specific plan being executed. I just took orders as they came.

Across the day, Tommy (the drummer) and I walked around the city of Portland, playing our instruments, while the film crew closely traced our steps. It was much earlier in the a.m. than I’m use to and bitter cold at times but, in the end, we were blessed with wonderful moments of nature, human interaction and artistic expression.

I believe that comes across in the video.

Thank you Glenn and Steven for your vision and for cradling my song in such a way. It was a pleasure working with you and the crew!
