It’s not right-
It’s not fair that none of us
Are anywhere we use to be
This time last year.
Back when the rain cut into summer
And it kept us home from the little games we played-
It’s the reason that you’re leaving
And staying away.
You wrap her up in her sunshine dress
And you watch the weather change.
She might call you back
(Just to keep in touch
And ask about the rain that’s coming down).
Up she goes
But she’ll be coming down again.
I never open up
Because everything good ends.
We’re all changing.
He calls himself a cowboy
And rescues all the pretty girls.
He stops to ask direction but
Slowly he twirls around himself
And further away from home he goes.
You can tell him I miss him
But I think it’s something
He already knows.
Up he goes
But he’ll be coming down again.
I never open up
Because everything good ends.
We’re all changing.
Welcome, did you notice something different here?
Did you notice something missing here?
We’re all changing;
In the days and the nights
(When we’re thinking about
How the summers become so cold)-
We’re all thinking I might be changing.
