This last weekend, I got the chance to see my favorite performer at my favorite venue — Josh Ritter at the Aladdin Theater in Portland, what more could you ask for?
Well, thanks to Josh’s gracious management, backstage passes was a good start. My girl and I sat 4th row for the especially intimate show but, I must admit, conversing with Josh (one of my top-two biggest musical influences) is always my favorite part of these evenings.
Backstage, Josh was his always-polite and ever-engaging self. He asked about my career and seemed already “in the know” about my latest accomplishments (not gonna lie, made me feel pretty good to know that my influence is keeping tabs). I’m always grateful that he takes the time to chat with me and my fiancé and I’m grateful for his modest laughs when I routinely (and not-so-subtly) hint at opening for him someday.
Making the night extra special, although this was my fifth(?) time meeting Josh, this was the first time I finally had the foresight to grab a picture with him. As I mentioned, he has played a pivotal role in my growth as an artist so I know I’ll be happy to have documented this encounter. Thanks for your time Josh … until we meet again!
