A few months ago, I was approached by Deer Lodge recording studio to take part in a George Jones tribute album that they were putting together, in honor of the late and great country legend. However, other than his hit, He Stopped Loving Her Today, I can admit that I didn’t know much about the man and his catalog of work, so it was a lot of fun going out and seeking the G.J. song that was right for me.
After sifting through tens of songs, I happily landed upon When the Grass Grows Over Me — you can hear my version of the song and a few words about my approach in the Portland Radio Project interview below (starting at 3:40). Enjoy and pass it along.
OH, big thanks to Bert Sperling and Ezra Meredith from Deer Lodge for spearheading this wonderful project and for including me in the process and finished product. Good luck fellas!
