Growing up, there was a crudely cut out quote posted to our refrigerator door and, as long as I can remember, it has stood as an engrained family mantra. Yes, each family member could recite it by memory and it has been used many times over within family discussions.
“I am not dead,” Sir Andrew Cried.
“I am wounded but not slain.
I will just lie here and bleed a while
Then I’ll rise to fight again.”
Because these words are both powerful and universal, my sister recently asked that I design a graphic of the quote so that it could be turned into a refrigerator magnet — an upgrade from the crudely cut piece of paper, stained by the years.
Of course, I did it, gladly, and the graphic is posted below. Feel free to take it and distribute it however you’d like … but just be sure to live by it.
