Yesterday was my daughter’s second birthday. Which gave me the perfect opportunity to tease the new In the Loudest Way EP that I’ve been writing for her over the past two years—an EP about change, infatuation and unconditional love.
Yes, it’s safe to say my life has started over. I see things differently now. I feel things differently now. I think about things differently now. For better or for worse, I’ve taken this new perspective and penned an album for Her, from me. But you wouldn’t know it was for a two-year-old little girl—I don’t think. It’s written in a way that speaks generally to new adventures and new love, with a sprinkle of life advice.
The only song (of the five) that’s not uniquely Hers, is the final track called The Clementine Battle Hymn. I started writing this song 12 years ago for my best friends baby boy. I wanted to usher Him into the world with a rousing war song … but I never could quite finish it. 12 years later, I think I needed to become a father in order to tap into the depths required.
So, without further ado, here’s a sneak peak at the In the Loudest Way EP … coming January 2019.
