I was told about the Music City SongStar contest a few months ago through CD Baby. To be honest, I didn’t know much about this national songwriting competition, but I’m not the type who needs all the answers up front (I just need to know there’s a door ready to be opened). So I blindly submitted my song This Too Shall Pass … and I’m glad I did … because I just received word that I’m officially a semifinalist for the Music City SongStar Contest, spring 2018!
As far as next steps are concerned, I only know a couple things: This means This Too Shall Pass has made it to the top 25 of thousands of total song entries. Judges will now review the top 25 to select a final four. The final four songwriters will then go to Nashville to perform at a historic Nashville venue.
As for how the outright winner is selected, I’m not sure. Maybe it’s based on the song alone; maybe it’s based on the performance in Nashville. Regardless, I’m honored to be Music City SongStar contest semifinalist. My fingers are all kinds of crossed.
