During the height of my Dave Matthews fanship, I wrote a stream of consciousness song that I hoped would resemble some of his lyrical stylings that I admired so deeply at the time. Whether I succeeded or failed, I cannot say, but with a pen grasped in my fingertips, this sleepy-eyed confession was written from one lover to another — a lazy sentiment that will last until song goes away.
Below is a video discussion of the behind the scenes of Fingertip, track #12 off of my new album Another Gleam — a revealing look at the inspiration, the songwriting process, the recording experience and more. Enjoy.
FINGERTIP

It’s my fingertip confession
That I’m too tired to play.
The thoughts were slowly coming,
Then they slowly went away.
Though gone, no less impressive,
But all too much the same;
I was thinking of you
And how you slowly went away.
So how does it feel my love?
How does it feel being on my mind?
So, my fingertip confessions
Will always stay the same;
I’ll be thinking of you-
I’ll be singing for you
Until Song goes away.
