Inspired by the famous Thomas Edison quote, “opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work,” I recently wrote a poem in the shower. It’s short and sweet and nothing to necessarily repeat, however, because it has always been my compass that hard work and dedication will eventually pay off (in one way or another), I wanted to voice some original words in that light. Enjoy.
There’s a rich man among us,
Often subtle and unseen,
For the dirt in his nails
And the holes in his jeans
Show no sign of wealth
Nor luck cast his way-
Still, he farms each opportunity,
With willing work each day,
As his gut says, “Tomorrow,
Be it dimes or dollars made,
This habit of action
Will pay and pay and pay.”
