Earlier today I was reminded of this ‘manifesto’ that I wrote within the liner notes of Some Days I’m a Lion. While I had admittedly forgotten about the text, I was delighted to find out that someone out there returns to it often, as a method of self-motivation. Hearing this, I felt compelled to re-read my own advice and share it with you. May it build you up.
THE LION MANIFESTO:
Above all else, this is a hopeful record about self-belief. Inspired by some of the darker days within my musical endeavor, these songs are in direct response to a time when I felt like a very foolish fish inside a starving sea. Fortunately, it was in this hour of doubt that I found a Lion in my heart and penned this album under the flame of that new banner; despite the hitting hammers, The Arsonists, the ever blowing wind and the Devil’s knocking at our doors, know this, WE ARE LIONS.
